Hi, I am Welles Tan, welcome to my blog. I had been a caricaturist for events and parties since 1990. Silhouette Cutting also called Portrait Silhouette Cutting,Profile Cutting or Shadow Cutting. It is an art that using scissors to cut out a shape of a person’s side profile using dark color paper. You can frame it like a photo, put on the desk as a decoration for memories. Within an hour, it should be about 40 - 50 cutting of A6 size to be produced, this is a professional artist's speed.

Pre-Event at Suntec City

Completed a silhouette cutting pre-event for Datapulse Technology Ltd’s dinner and dance at Suntec City’s Grand Ballroom. I got one of the guest take some photo for me while I am working.

It happened that was a rainy day; saw the army troupes temporarily doing their rehearsal for Singapore National day Celebrations in Suntec City.

Silhouette cutting at Swissotel Merchant Court Singapore

Did a silhouette cutting pre-event for “GLS Staffs Dinner and Dance” at Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel, Singapore. That was great to do this event especially all the guests was very nice!

William Lee was there doing caricature! That’s great to meet someone I know in the event.

Full figure silhouette cutting for event?

Nope, that was not easy to produce a full figure silhouette during the event, because silhouette cutting is almost similar to portrait drawing, need to produce a realistic artwork, means need time to do it, but during pre-event activities, we are booked in hourly basis, we must produce as many pieces of artwork as possible within an hour. So for the time being, I only produce the portrait silhouette in the event.
